What AI SEO enrichment does
The mechanism this page exists for, and the one this category invites overclaiming about, so the boundary comes before the capability.
Enrichment fills the tags a page is missing (meta title and description, Open Graph, Twitter and X cards, JSON-LD) in the rendered copy machines receive. It never touches a tag somebody already wrote. An authored tag is kept exactly as it stands, and a generated one appears only where that tag is absent, so writing your own description later does not invite the generated version back over it.
Enrichment is available on Pro and above, and stays off for a domain until it is enabled. What follows is where it stops, what it fills, and what holds it steady.

It does not rewrite a tag you wrote
Filling a gap and improving an existing line are different jobs, and only the first one happens here. A description you wrote three years ago and forgot about stays exactly as you left it.
Nothing on the path is blocked or slowed
Crawlers and AI agents are served, not screened. Making discovery harder for the readers doing the discovering would defeat the point.
Google does not participate in IndexNow
Submission reaches the engines that do, and the scope there is narrow: discovered and changed URLs only, no history imported, full-site submission manual.

A link with no image previews as a grey box, and most pages have no image.
Where one is missing, a card can be composed at 1200 by 630 from three things you already have: the brand colour, the typeface, and a picture of the page itself. Composed rather than imagined: nothing in it is invented, and a page that already has an image keeps it.
The frame around the screenshot can be drawn in the Windows style or the macOS one, which sounds like a detail until the card is sitting in somebody's feed next to four others.
Cards stay switched off even after enrichment is on, until you ask for them.

Two settings that hold the rest steady
Generated text is only as trustworthy as the facts it is given, and only as risky as what it is allowed to invent. Two settings decide that, and both are yours to write.
A brand profile, used word for word
What the site is called, the Open Graph site name where it differs, the social handle, the postfix on a title, a default image and its alt text. These do not change from page to page, so they are not the sort of thing a model should be guessing. It copies them.
A description of the site and how it should sound
What you do, who reads it, and the rules the copy follows: plain rather than eager, British spelling, no superlatives. This steers the wording and is never published on any page. It exists to make the tags it writes sound like yours, not to become one.

Do I need to install a plugin?
No, and there is nothing to add to your codebase either. The work happens at the edge, on the copy assembled for machines, and that is also why it works the same on a site rendered in the browser as on one rendered by a server: the plugin ecosystem your CMS does or does not have never comes into it.
What happens if I write my own description later?
Yours ships. A generated tag is added only where that tag is absent, so the moment your description exists, machines receive it exactly as you wrote it, and the generated version does not come back over it. Availability is Pro and above, and it stays off for a domain until you turn it on.
What does the model know about my brand, and does any of it end up on my pages?
It knows what you put in the brand profile, and those facts are used exactly as written rather than worked out. The short account of how your copy should sound steers the wording and is never published: it is read while a tag is written and goes nowhere near the page. Preview cards are composed from your own colour, typeface and screenshot.
Does my JavaScript site get indexed?
Not reliably on its own. A page assembled in the browser sends a shell first, and any reader that does not execute that step receives the shell. Prerendering addresses exactly this by serving rendered HTML to crawlers and AI agents, so what they receive contains the content rather than the container.
Are crawlers or AI agents blocked or slowed down?
No, and the rule is the opposite of that. Automated readers on this path are served rather than screened: nothing blocks them, throttles them, or asks them to prove anything. Discovery is the goal, so making it harder for the readers doing the discovering would defeat the purpose.
Does IndexNow tell Google about my pages?
No. Google does not participate in IndexNow, and it is worth being direct about that because most people assume otherwise. Submission reaches the engines that do participate, and the scope is specific: discovered and changed URLs only, no history imported, full-site submission manual.
